Carolyn Brandt Martell Nemeth

Carolyn was born on April 11, 1938, in Munising, MI, to Lilias Marsh Brandt and Charles “Chaddie” Brandt. She graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree, from Northern Michigan University in January of 1963. She had been a Californian resident 53 years.She worked for 30 years with various Southern California School Districts. She retired in May of 1998 from Rim of the World Unified School District in Lake Arrowhead, CA as Assistant Superintendent of Business Services. In her retirement years, she enjoyed playing bridge, doing volunteer work, spending time with family, developing a family tree and traveling the world.She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Judith Bodmer, and her granddaughter Nicole Martell.She is survived by her son, Gary (Jacque) Martell; granddaughters Laura & Brittany Martell all of Lake Arrowhead, CA; her niece Kathleen Bodmer, of Apple Valley, MN; nephew Kenneth Bodmer of Shakopee, MN; nephew Stuart (Julie) Bodmer; grandniece, Hannah Bodmer, grandnephew, Joshua Bodmer all of Chanhassen, MN and several cousins.At the request of the decedent, there are to be no funeral services, but donations in her memory may be made to either the First Presbyterian Church or the Alger County Historical Society, both in Munising, MI. Valerie Immel

Immel, 72, passed away at St. Bernardine Medical Center on July 6, 2015 after a brave four-year battle with cancer. She had lived in the Lake Arrowhead area for the past 15 years although most of her adult life was spent in Laguna Beach, Calif.Valerie was a self-aware, vivacious and deeply thoughtful and caring person who touched many lives. She worked in education as a college administrator for over 35 years and later, received her Master’s Degree in Organizational Leadership. Because of her commitment to assist others to become empowered and to achieve their dreams, much of her time was spent working as a mentor and volunteer in various non-profits and philanthropic endeavors including being a premier connection where she assisted people to "relax, focus and live well" and by serving on various boards including, past president of the Arrowhead Arts Association.Valerie adored her family and is survived by Jack Immel, her husband of 29 years.
